"Offer is on the table": New James Bond actor revealed

In a world where the only constant is change, one thing remains certain: James Bond will always be suave, sophisticated, and British.

The search for the next 007 has been a rollercoaster of speculation, rumours and hopes dashed faster than a villain's escape plan. But now the wait appears to be over. The man most likely in line to be the next James Bond has been revealed, and his name is Taylor-Johnson ... Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

According to a report from The Sun on Tuesday, Eon Productions, the brilliant minds behind the iconic spy franchise, appear to have finally settled on their man. According to sources as reliable as Bond's impeccable taste in martinis, Taylor-Johnson is set to don the tuxedo and wield the Walther PPK in the next instalment of the series. Well, at least if he accepts the offer.

“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it," The Sun reported. "The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.

“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

Now, some of you might be scratching your heads, wondering, "Aaron who?"

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is an English actor, which automatically makes him qualified for the role. Plus, he's been in action films like Tenet, Bullet Train and Avengers: Age of Ultron. So, he's no stranger to high-stakes thrills and spills. Also, did we mention he's British? Because that's kind of a prerequisite.

At 33 years of age, Taylor-Johnson would be the youngest actor to step into Bond's impeccably polished shoes since George Lazenby back in 1969. Talk about big shoes to fill. But if anyone can handle the pressure, it's our man Aaron.

Now, some purists might be clutching their martini glasses in horror, lamenting the departure of Daniel Craig, who graced our screens for five thrilling films. But fear not, for change is the spice of life, and if there's one thing Bond knows how to handle, it's change. Besides, who wouldn't want to see what Taylor-Johnson brings to the table? Maybe he'll introduce a new signature drink or a quirky catchphrase. The possibilities are as endless as Bond's list of conquests.

The response to The Sun's announcement has caused a few reactions across the globe, with 9News reporting that "A source with knowledge of the situation tells CNN that Johnson has not been cast as Bond. And, BBC News reports that a 'production insider' said there is no truth to the rumours about Taylor-Johnson's casting."

So, as we eagerly await the official announcement from Eon Productions, let us raise our glasses to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the next suave superspy set to save the world, one shaken, not stirred, adventure at a time.

Images: Getty / Twitter (X)

"It was a loud wake-up call": Aaron Sorkin's serious health scare

Award-winning screenwriter and director Aaron Sorkin has revealed he suffered a stroke last November.

In an interview with The New York Times, the 61-year-old, who holds three Golden Globes and five Emmys, said the experience was so intense it made him think he might never work again.

"There was a minute when I was concerned that I was never going to be able to write again," Sorkin said.

Sorkin revealed that the stroke occurred two months before rehearsals for his upcoming musical – a re-written version of Camelot.

The West Wing creator said that the symptoms showed up in the middle of the night when he realised that he kept crashing into walls on his way to the kitchen.

The symptoms carried on the next day, when he found himself continually spilling a glass of orange juice in his home office.

When he went to the doctors they said his blood pressure was so high, he was "supposed to be dead".

Sorkin also shared that he’s still suffering from the side effects as he hasn’t been able to taste food properly since the stroke.

A month after the stroke, Sorkin struggled to type and was slurring his words, it’s only recently that he finally built up the coordination to be able to sign his name again.

The director shared that the stroke has led him to make some major lifestyle changes.

"Mostly it was a loud wake-up call," he said. "I thought I was one of those people who could eat whatever he wanted, smoke as much as he wanted, and it's not going to affect me. Boy, was I wrong," he said.

Sorkin has since given up smoking, works out twice a day and has incorporated a healthier diet. "I take a lot of medicine. You can hear the pills rattling around in me," he added.

The screenwriter is currently preparing for the opening of his new musical, Camelot, which is his fourth Broadway production.

Image: Getty Images

Brad Pitt has a list of actors he’ll never work with again

The people you work with have the power to make going to work heavenly or hellish, so it should come as no surprise that Brad Pitt - whose career in acting and producing spans 35 years - would be selective about who he works with.

In fact, Bullet Train co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has revealed that Pitt has a “long” list of actors he never wants to work with again.

Taylor-Johnson told Variety that Pitt keeps notes on who he likes and dislikes when he’s making films.

“He just wants to bring light and joy into the world and be around people who are there to have a good time,” the 32-year-old explained.

“You work with many actors and after a while you start making notes - ‘I am definitely not working with this person ever again’.

“Brad has this list too: the ‘good’ list and the ‘s**t’ list.”

But, Taylor-Johnson was tight-lipped as to who was on Pitt’s “s**t list”.
<blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; I even miss Katrina.

“The sadness that I am going through, it should never have happened … as soon as the lawyers got involved, everything went downhill really really fast.”

On May 11, Mr Cockman’s estranged father-in-law Peter Miles, 61, shot dead his 58-year-old wife Cynda, 35-year-old daughter Katrina and her four children – daughter Taye, 13, and sons Rylan, 12, Arye, 10, and Kadyn, 8.

Mr Cockman is preparing to meet with Health Minister Greg Hunt on Wednesday about changing Australia’s family legal system, warning of the potentially devastating consequences of court involvement in family separation.

“Things just began to spiral out of control,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

“There was no turning back. I backed away because I could see the enormous strain she [Kat] and the family were under.

“We need to find a better, safer way of dealing with family separation than the family court,” Mr Cockman said.

Aaron Cockman reveals motive behind Margaret River massacre in heartbreaking interview

The man who lost all four of his children after their grandfather shot them in their sleep before turning the gun on himself broke down in tears last night as he remembered his “beautiful kids”.

In an emotional interview on Channel 7’s Sunday Night, Aaron Cockman explained the circumstances he believes led his former father-in-law, Peter Miles, to commit Australia’s worst mass shooting since the Port Arthur massacre.

Miles murder Taye, 13, Rylan, 12, Ayre, 10 and Kayden, 8, their mother Katrina Miles, and grandmother Cynda Miles at home in Osmington, a rural region near Margaret River in Western Australia.

<img width="444" height="333" src="https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/dd2acd5c6de2e0e605736776faacf470" alt="A picture of the family Funeral Service for Peter and Cynda Miles, Katrina, Taye, Rylan, Arye and Kadyn. I said, ‘I’ve got the police coming here now.’”

“I still can’t believe that this is even happening,” Mr Cockman said.

Mr Cockman said the pressure of a custody dispute over the children caused strain on both families.

“The children started to be groomed to hate us and to hate Aaron,” said Mr Cockman’s mother Kim. “And that … that was wicked.”

Mr Cockman thinks his former father-in-law killed his family to “solve the problem” surrounding the shared care of the children and because he did not want the kids to be saddened by his own death.

“It solves the problem. It solves his problem. How do I get rid of myself without everyone, all the kids suffering,” Mr Cockman said.

“If you actually thought in your head that you just cannot possibly live anymore. I just want to kill myself, I want to kill myself, but I can't, but I can't, because I don't want the kids to suffer.”

Peter Miles was being treated for depression after one of his sons had killed himself and another was taken seriously ill with kidney failure.

Neighbour Felicity Haynes said: “It was known that he was seeking psychological help and psychologists had prescribed antidepressants.”

She said Cynda Miles was showing the strain when she returned for visiting her son Neil in hospital and said there were “other things happening at home”.

“I do think she was referring to the fact that Peter was being fairly irrational,” Ms Haynes said.

Mr Cockman’s mother believes Mr Miles killed the kids so they couldn’t be with Aaron.

“He wanted those children to be with him and Cynda,” she said. “He would have to kill them all so that they weren't left on their own with Aaron. That's how much he hated Aaron.”

Mr Miles left a bizarre suicide note on the kitchen table that read: “Ex-husband, Aaron Cockman to have house content.”

Mr Cockman said he believes his children would still be alive if family court orders had been enforced, as he is convinced it was the long, drawn out court battle that led to Mr Miles’ demise.

“Myself and the kids and Kat, and even Peter and Cynda suffered so much through the court system.

“And for Peter to actually take on a farm with all my kids on it and be the father figure, it's a lot of pressure on someone that is not mentally capable and shouldn't be in that situation.”

“I’m going to put all my effort into that,” Mr Cockman said. “I’ve got nothing else now.”

Lifeline – 13 11 14
